R-22 IS ON ITS WAY OUT! HOW IS IT GOING TO AFFECT YOU
Starting in 2020, the Environmental Protection Agency's Montreal Protocol and Clean Air Act will completely phase out the production of R-22. To read more about this, check out https://www.epa.gov/ods-phaseout. The EPA has been restricting the amount of R-22 being produced since 1987. As the production of R-22 has been reduced, the price is skyrocketing.
Recharge or Replace?
What choices does a consumer have if their system has a leak?
When considering whether to replace or recharge your system, some things to ask yourself.
-
How old is your system?
-
How long are you going to live at this property?
-
Is it feasible to keep adding R-22?
Keep in mind that as the supply for R-22 production dwindles, the price will skyrocket.
There is no guarantee when R-22 is put back into your system that it won't leak out again, sometimes within hours.
